Williamsport / Nittany Mountain KOA

Site #11 – 30amp, Full Hook-up.

We stopped at this campground on the way up to NY as it was a nice half-way point and seemed easy to access from our route. Check-in was easy, information provided was helpful: map, WIFI password, activity calendar, campground rules and info. Our particular site was difficult to get into based on the location of trees both on the site itself and along the road. My husband “bumped” a tree with the truck bumper while attempting to back in. Once we finally wiggled into the site and leveled out (needed about 4 inches on one side), we discovered that we could not open our main slide fully because of a tree on that side of the trailer. We had about 2-3 more inches to fully extend. Since we were only staying for about 18 hours, we decided to just stay in place and make the best of it. If we were there for longer, I might have requested a different site… while we had room to move over on the site, the narrow road would have made it difficult.

The kids loved it… especially my daughter. She immediately made a friend and they were out until dark playing on the updated playground (they had a fun “zip-line”). As for my husband and myself… it was super noisy and very busy at our particular site. We were right by the playground, pool and bathhouse. While it was convenient to be so close, it also made for a lot of foot traffic. If we were to stay there for a longer visit, I’d choose a spot farther back. We didn’t get a chance to walk the full campground because of rain, but my favorite site we saw would be #49

Pros: • Easy on and off from the highway • Lots of activities for the kids: jump pillow, large playground (recently updated), basketball hoops, volleyball net, small mini-golf course, swimming pool (with separate kiddie pool), bike rentals, and petting zoo. • Lots of shade, most sites and quite wooded • Bathrooms were clean and updated • Large, well stocked camp store • Some meals available at the rec center • Small Fishing Pond • Hay ride for the kids • Camp staff was friendly • Decent WiFi available (probably slightly dependent on site location) • 50 amp sites with full hook-up available, some were pull-though

Cons: • Some of the sites were narrow and difficult to navigate into because of all of the trees • Noticed a lot of standing dead trees which could potentially cause harm to your trailer if they fell in a storm • Noticed many campers had unrestrained dogs at their site (no leash, kennel etc) • Many seasonal site campers • Some of the kids’ activities require an additional fee (for example, you had to pay to use the jump pillow)

Ideal Sites: 49
